2.  AUTOIMMUNE PROBLEMS

www.i26forhealth.com/dominie - Virtually everyone can benefit from a balanced immune system but some people have an immediate need to balance. People who can benefit very quickly are those who deal with auto-immune problems associated with an imbalance in their immune response.  Auto-immune problems can affect virtually every part of the body including respiratory, digestive, circulatory, joint, and muscular health. An imbalance in these areas can result in either an exaggerated inflammatory response caused by an overactive immune system or not enough inflammation resulting in an immune system that is unable to help the body deal with issues properly.  Everyone, healthy or otherwise, benefit when consuming i26. Everyday challenges can send your immune system into an imbalanced state.  You may think you are healthy but it does not take much to spin your immune system into an imbalanced state.

Some challenges that can affect your immune system are:

     Lack of sleep

    Stressful work or home environment

    The diet you consume

Poor drinking water or unhealthy foods

    Extensive travel

    Excessive physical exertion

Exposure to bacteria, viruses, molds, and parasites

When you become run down and or push yourself too hard, too fast, your immune system can get thrown off balance. This is a time when you are especially susceptible to health issues. Our daily lives are filled with new challenges and staying healthy starts with an optimized immune system. If your immune system is working efficiently and producing balanced inflammatory immune responses your body is better equipped to react positively.  Learn more about i26 Complete Support, i26 (hyperimmune egg powder), and Flex at www.i26forhealth.com/dominie.

3.  MITOCHONDRIAL DAMAGE IN CFS

From a reader--

"One of the readers in your last newsletter www.fms-help.com/041611.htm asked the question “WHY do we have such fatigue?” While I do not have the common symptoms of Fibro I am 56 and on the extreme end of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and have been disabled with it for 8 years. (Also called CFIDS or in Europe; Myalgic Encephalomylitis). Someone forwarded this site to me of a Dr. Myhill in England. [S]he, along with Prof.  Norman Booth of Oxford University and Dr. John McLaren of Acumen) wrote an ABSOLUTELY fascinating paper regarding “CFS – The Central Cause: Mitochondrial Failure”. If in fact, they are correct about the ‘end result’ of what happens in CFS patients and their debilitating fatigue, which he characterizes as ‘collapse,’ it explains why CFS patients suffer post exertional malaise, the subsequent ‘crash’ after any activity (mental OR physical) and why it takes days to recover even SOME strength. It also explains the effect on different parts of the body of lack of ATP and of special note, where he talks about the fact that in functional brain scans in many CFS patients it almost looks like they’ve had a ‘stroke’, even though they haven’t. It was though he was writing my own personal case history. While many researchers are looking into XMRV retrovirus and the recent discovery of protein gene markers in the blood of CFS patients, this focuses more on the damage to the body, not necessarily the cause. See http://www.doctormyhill.co.uk/wiki/CFS_-_The_Central_Cause:_Mitochondrial_Failure."

FROM DOM: This is an excellent article that explains a lot in simple language.  I have mentioned these topics in past newsletters - Dr. Myhill, mitchondrial damage, cardiac involvement, etc.  Use the Google search box at the end of this page to find those references.  I also have a page on my site about mitochondrial dysfunction at www.fms-help.com/mitrochondria.htm.

5.  CANCER THERAPY & FMS/CFIDS

Responses to Peggy--

Reader 1--

"I read your post in Dom's Newsletter www.fms-help.com/041611.htm, and am very sorry to hear about your cancer. I have included some information below that I became aware of last year through watching documentaries on Netflix. I'm not sure if you've heard of or tried different alternative therapies, but there is one that I learned about called The Gerson Therapy. Here is a link to their website http://www.gerson.org/  There are a few documentaries including information about their program (research, success stories, etc.). A few we've watched on Netflix include: Food Matters and The Beautiful Truth. You may also be able to check these out from the library. Another video, Dying To Have Known - free to watch online http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DoUl7F7dWdE.  The Gerson Miracle Video free to watch online. You can also find many instructional videos on YouTube.com by typing in Gerson Therapy in the search field.  There are books available too. I checked one out at the library to find out more about Max Gerson's original work.  I don't personally know anyone who has tried this therapy except the people in the movies, but I believe it is possible to be cured from cancer.  I hate to see you go through chemo, which helps to kill the cancer, but also kills good cells. You may know this already, so sorry for going on about it.  If you have time, take a look at the videos and books and the Gerson sight. It can't hurt to try something that's natural and doesn't cost too much and something you probably already buy, like raw vegetables etc."

Reader 2--

"My mother (also named Peggy) was diagnosed w/ Breast Cancer last year; she is 62. She has a CFS and Epstein Barr diagnosis rather Fibromyalgia, but I am of the opinion that they are the same thing, She did chemo once every 3 week for several months, then surgery, then radiation. It has been a year and she is now cancer free! She got nauseous once from chemo, and lost her hair. She had some bone pain and ligament laxity in her hip from the treatment. The radiation treatment turned the target area dark like a tan. Other than that, she did great! They are able to test you to target the responses to chemo and it is not the nightmare it used to be."

6.  MAGNESIUM SULFATE (EPSOM SALTS)

From a reader--

"I happened to stumble across this site http://www.enzymestuff.com/epsomsalts.htm, and did not realize that Epsom salts are magnesium sulfate.  This page has a fairly long article, and includes (scrolling down) recipes for Epsom salt baths, spray, footbath, homemade lotion, cream, and oil.  I would think it would be similar to the more expensive creams and save quite a lot of money.  I’ll have to experiment with it and give it a try.  Foot cramps are not fun, as you know!  I appreciate all the info in your newsletter, as well as the input on magnesium sulfate from the person who shared that info www.fms-help.com/041611.htm."

7.  "BATTERIES ARE CHEAPER THAN FUNERALS"

From a reader--

"Re: tooth infection www.fms-help.com/041611.htm - I am a member of Yahoo group - microelectricitygermkillers - and have made both 3 volt (using two c cell batteries) and 6 volt (using a lantern battery) "zappers".  In their files folder are instructions for making home made battery powered "zappers".  The theory is that this microelectricity going through body tissues will disrupt the life ability of pathogens while simultaneously carrying a charge very similar to the body's own electrical system charge in good health, which seems to help the body recover more easily when traumatized..  This charge will pass through scar/wound/insect bit swelling/etc to help the body decide to take care of the problem the way our Creator intended the body to work.  Reading the numerous posts of problems and the resulting changes after microelectricity stimulation led us to make and use our first unit.  Now Hubby has his and I have mine.  He uses his with full battery power.  I like a resistor inline in mine as I seem to be more sensitive to the sensation of the 6 volts a bit more than he is.  I used the 3 volt/two C cell batteries without a problem, but then run down much more quickly than the #3 lantern battery, which I have been using for many months now).  I have a sensitive tooth with no overt problem the dentist can discover so I zap that side of my mouth whenever the sensitivity increases.   For me, 10 to 15 minutes will usually provide relief for a few weeks. This microelectricity is not to take the place of any medical or dental treatment and is not considered a medical intervention. I love the motto of the group: 'Batteries are cheaper than funerals'."

FROM DOM: I have had a lot of info about zapping in past newsletters, about Hulda Clark, etc..  Search using the Google box at the end of this page.  I have not personally zapped yet, although it is intriguing.  I bought Hulda Clark's controversial book, "The Cure for All Diseases," many years ago.  Now that Mystery Diagnosis ("Monsters Inside Me") is on the Discovery Health Channel, we know that Hulda was on the right track!

8.  VOCAL CORD DYSFUNCTION (VCD)

From a reader--

"Just wondering whether anyone one else has VCD?  My asthma test was negative but shows evidence of vocal chord dysfunction which is related to tension in the neck and shoulders . . so thought it may be related to the tension that fibromites experience.  It is also related to sinus drainage (which I have) and acid reflex."

FROM DOM: I hadn't heard of VCD until now.  See http://cantbreathesuspectvcd.com/ Snippet: "Vocal Cord Dysfunction (VCD) is a hidden, yet common, usually unsuspected condition of throat closure &/or choking sensation that can strike any age, can cause sudden, severe episodes (attacks) of breathing difficulty, sometimes with wheezing (whistling or sighing sounds) &/or stridor (harsh, high pitched, ‘windy’ gasping sounds). In the Emergency Room (ER), VCD is usually misdiagnosed as being difficult (refractory, or brittle) asthma, anaphylaxis (severe, life threatening allergic reaction), or hysteria (all in one’s head). VCD can feel like straining to breathe through a straw. Some cannot get any air in (or out) at all. Panic and fear of dying from feeling that one isn’t getting in enough air, often causes repeated ER visits or hospitalizations."Acid reflux, sinus drainage, toxic irritants and certain meds cause it.  I don't doubt that tension in the neck/shoulders from fibro could be a cause as well.  If you have this condition due to fibro muscle tension, please write dombush@bellsouth.net.

9.  SUGGESTIONS FOR DOM'S DENTAL PROBLEMS

Reader 1--

"About your dental problems www.fms-help.com/041811.htm, I had a couple thoughts, that you might want to consider:

1.  If your ear pain and swollen gland ARE related to an underlying infection - which sounds like it COULD be . . . brushing your teeth with hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), might help with that infection.  I still have some "food grade H202", that I have put in  a "safe" plastic bottle, with a dropper top.  When I brush my teeth, I put about three drops on my brush, along with my toothpaste, and brush for a minimum of two minutes with my "Sonicare" tooth brush.  Since I started doing that, I have not had any problems with my teeth, and have no plaque buildup.  I have seen, on the Environmental Illness forums, that some people have basically healed root canal infections, by gargling with baking soda and using food grade H2O2.  It might be worth a try.

2.  Regarding your mention, that the pain, that you are experiencing is very similar to your previous shingles. It is also possible that this kind of stressor COULD cause a shingles flare.  I recently saw something, about treating shingles, which I had learned many years ago, when suffering from canker sores in my mouth, which are closely related to the same virus.  Taking fairly high doses of L-Lysine, can help bring the flare under control.  I think I read that you can take as much as 1500 mg three times a day.  People who take lower doses don't seem to have much, if any, results from taking this.

3.  Another thought, that I had, is related to alkalizing your body, to make an unfriendly environment for microbes.  I know that you take the H202, combination product, but thought I would bring this up, to give you food for thought.  I don't think I have ever seen you mention, that you check the pH of your urine.  This is a good way to monitor, if you are truly alkalizing your body sufficiently.  You may, or may not know, that you can buy test strips, to check your urine, to see how the your program is working. I am currently working to rid myself of chronic bladder infections, which have plagued me for most of my adult life.  In the past several years, I have become resistant to the few antibiotics that I am not allergic to.  I have been trying to fight this naturally, with only moderate success.  This past week another infection flared, and I was in a lot of pain.  I was Skyping with a friend, who lives in New Zealand, and she suggested something that is not available in the US.  It is called Ural Sachet.  I found a recipe online, that someone made up out of frustration, since they couldn't buy it.  In researching Ural Sachets, to see if it is something that I can take, I learned that it is used to treat bladder infections, gout and cancer.  It is not sold in the US, and I learned that it is sold by prescription, so it is likely the pharmaceutical company, that produces it, has gotten the FDA to ban OTC sales of Ural Sachet.  I was amazed to find, that within a couple hours after starting to take this sachet, my bladder spasms stopped and I have not had any pain since.  I take it three times a day, check my urine pH at least once or twice a day, and keep it at the ideal "7.0".  I plan to continue this for another week (two weeks total), and then stop it, to see if the pain returns.  I actually might continue taking it at least once a day, to maintain my urine at a 7.0 pH, which is what we need to keep our body's pH, at 7.4 and what it should be all the time anyway. Since viruses do not survive in an alkaline environment, I am wondering if that might not be something, that you could try to treat a shingles infection, if you ever have a relapse.  If you are interested in the recipe, I would be happy to send it to you. It is very simple and very inexpensive to make.

4.  Another thought, that I just had, is related to your swollen gland.  On occasion, when I have swollen glands, I start at the top, of the gland, and gland and gently apply pressure, while moving my finger down the gland.  This pushes any of the backed up lymph, that is building up, out of the gland. You can do this five or ten times, several times a day.  Hold your chin up and continue to move your finger (applying gentle pressure), down your neck into your chest area.    My Chiropractor did this one time, when I told her I had swollen glands.  It did help, so I started doing it to myself, when I had swollen glands. I hope you are feeling better. My prayers are with you."

Reader 2--

"As far as shingles and dental work - I am convinced they are related!  it is only when I get dental work that I will get any nerve problems...I can feel the nerve tingle and then my lip is messed with a cold sore. with shingles, it is the same story....it will happen after dental work. I believe all that working on our mouths upsets the nerves and then we suffer from the ordeal itself AND the shingle outbreak, or the cold sore outbreak or the Trigeminal outbreak......electrical shoots all throughout the eyeballs, cheeks, teeth, gums, ears...  and dental work will always wake it up."

FROM DOM:  I appreciated this feedback!   Thanks so much!

 10.  TRIGGER POINTS CAN CAUSE PAIN IN UNRELATED AREAS

From a reader--

"I just finished reading your newsletter www.fms-help.com/041611.htm, and while I was reading I was reminded of my problems with TMJ because my jaw was popping really bad so I opened another tab and googled "help for TMJ" and I came across this link: http://www.triggerpointbook.com/index.html. The book that is discussed is a book I was planning to buy in the near future to help with my myofascial pain syndrome. At the bottom of the page is a section entitled "Symptom Index" and made the following statement: "You may have the wrong idea about your pain—and so may your doctor! Doctors Travell and Simons believe that pain is widely misunderstood, misinterpreted, and misdiagnosed. Their clinical experience has shown that trigger points can often be the true cause of the pain and other symptoms associated with the following conditions." Then it proceeds to list numerous pain problems. The section prior to the "Symptom Index", entitled "Aches and Pains" had this to say: "Just like in the above example, an amazing number of our common aches and pains—and a variety of other puzzling physical symptoms—have been found to be caused by myofascial trigger points. In fact, trigger points have been proven to be the primary cause of pain roughly 75 percent of the time and to be part of nearly every pain problem."  It also says that the book has 376 illustrations and you're shown in detail how to find and self-treat trigger points in 120 pairs of muscles throughout the body. When I was looking at this book on Amazon it was very highly rated by readers. Anyway, when I saw the update about your dental work (or the lack thereof) and ear pain after an exam.  I was like "BINGO" maybe that is what's going on!  Who knows? It may be related. Just thought I would pass this on because I saw ear pain listed. I know it's not going to help at the moment, but maybe with a little online research you could come across an actual demonstration of a technique that might help."

FROM DOM:  Wow!  The book is called "The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook" by Clair Davies on amazon at http://www.amazon.com/Trigger-Point-Therapy-Workbook-Self-Treatment/dp/1572243759/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top.  Fascinating!  My dad www.fms-help.com/eulogy.htm was born and raised in mainland China.  His older brother became an herb doctor.  My father was a big believer in massage for pain relief.  Perhaps what is now known as trigger points were (sort of) understood a long time ago, for instance with the art of acupuncture.

11.  THE ENCOURAGING WORD

From our plumber, Alan--

“For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.”   Matthew 20:28 NLT

FROM DOM:  Alan has a wonderful ministry of emailing an encouraging Bible verse every day to people on his list.  I have been receiving these verses for about a year now, and many times they were just what I needed to hear or be reminded of.  I always click on his email to be uplifted spiritually.  If you would like to be on Alan's list, write anndavid45@gmail.com and request The Encouraging Word.  (You can unsub at any time.)

14.  HOW DO YOU DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN FIBROMYALGIA & CFS?

From a reader--

"How do you differentiate between fibromyalgia and CFS?  There is so much to read out there and a lot of articles combine them as 1 ailment and others 2 and yet others no ailment at all!  Is there a section of article or facts I can take to my doctor on your site?  I can seem to find a good doctor who can treat all my stuff!  I have Hashimotos, gluten intolerance, adrenal issues, depression, etc.  I have gotten some one to say fibromyalgia but it's not set in stone.  I think I have a combo of that and cfs.  I sleep but it is unrestorative...is there something for that?"

FROM DOM:  Excellent questions.  I believe (from personal experience...I'm not a doc) that FMS and CFIDS are two different illnesses with overlapping symptoms.  For me, fibromyalgia involved widespread body pain, fatigue, unrelenting insomnia, depression, weird neurological symptoms (like fibro fog, shooting pains), muscle stiffness and gelling.  However, my CFIDS symptoms were: utter debilitating fatigue, frequent infections, frequent viral illnesses, sleeping for long periods of time with no refreshment, brain fatigue and fog, and neurological symptoms (like brain crashing when riding in a car more than 30 minutes).

Below are some pages on my site that may be helpful in describing these 2 disorders--

16.  SLEEP MED COMBINATIONS

From a reader--

"It is interesting about all of us with our sleep formulas. You with generic Ambien--I can't take it--and the herbal formula (Somnapure) as a supplement.  I do it with generic Trazadone --Deseril and NightRest by Source Naturals and may add something from www.endfatigue.com and that other person who mentioned Dreamboost www.fms-help.com/041611.htmWe all seem to need to combine a prescription and an herbal.  Dr. Teitelbaum suggests several low dose of prescription things and herbal things, as opposed to a huge dose of one thing like a prescription. several things he thinks work better and in different ways."

FROM DOM:  Yep! My insomnia story is at www.fms-help.com/insomnia.htm.  A list of things I've tried for sleep is at www.fms-help.com/sleep.htm.  A list of things I use now is at www.fms-help.com/what.htm.  I get restorative sleep most nights with a combo of meds and Somnapure.

18  LIDOCAINE

Reader 1--

"Re: lidocaine www.fms-help.com/041811.htm - those trigger point injections seem to work for a lot of people...but it sent me into a flare. I get lidocaine bubbles when I have to get an IV because of my scleroderma....and I LOVE them...but the trigger point injections are different.  I would LOVE to be able to get those...if they worked, I would be in the doctor's office each week."

Reader 2--

"Last year my PCP prescribed 50 lidoderm patches for my pain in my back and  shoulder blade area.  Well, I could not tell that much difference.  We do not have any health insurance, so for 5 patches it was $50. A touch high. But like you have told me and I have learned, each person is different."

22.  PALPITATIONS & RACING HEART

From a reader--

"A twenty-plus year, FMS and CFS sufferer, I have problems with my heart rate. There have been times that it just "hits" and I end up passing out. My heart rate is very rarely below ninety, even while I am at rest. I have several episodes per day that my heart rate jumps into rates as high as 196. These episodes can last in duration for a few seconds to thirty or more minutes.  I experience some chest tightening, nausea and coughing during some of these times. I feel "washed  out" after some of these. I have taken different medications for this problem. I am presently taking Rx. Bystolic 10mg. I still have several episodes per day, however they are not as severe.  I have been told to gag myself as  this can make your heart jump back into normal rhythm. I usually end up having to lay down and " try to relax". This problem can be very frightening and restricting, as I have no way of predicting severity of any episode.  They increased when I was taking Savella, which I no longer take. My doctor doesn't seem concerned about this. Again, I feel like a hypochondriac, as I am made to feel about many of my medical complaints by my family and physician."

FROM DOM:  See www.fms-help.com/doctors.htm if you have been shell-shocked by a doctor's unsympathetic response to your health problem.

23.  ANXIETY & GABA

From a reader--

"I've been meaning to write in regard to your reader with anxiety problems in the previous newsletter www.fms-help.com/041811.htm.  There is a supplement called GABA which helps anxiety tremendously.  I have been trying to control extreme depression and anxiety by natural means for the last 2 years and finally feel that it is managed.  The list of things I use is a long one but the two most important for anxiety are taking a good vitamin B complex and GABA.  Also a BIG AMEN to the excellent information on Magnesium (same newsletter)!  It is a miracle mineral of which so many people are deficient.  Magnesium supplementation can be confusing because there are several different forms of it.  It's something that requires research & experimentation to find the right one for each individual."

25.  UPLIFTING REMINDERS

From a reader--

"Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?  And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life?   And why are you worried about clothing ? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these.  But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you?"   Matthew 6:26-30

26.  HOW READER'S FIBRO BEGAN

From a reader--

"My fibro started about 3 months after a severe accident to my neck and face.  I also had a rotten tooth that had to get pulled so the dentist said but to this day I think a root canal could have saved it. I got an infection after the extraction. Very painful. So I really am not sure which one caused  fibro. It's been 41/2 years now. I have gotten much better. I get burning pain and very sore muscles so bad it hurts to touch me."

27.  RESPONSE FOR HUSBAND OF FIBRO WIFE

From a reader--

"Please tell this gentleman www.fms-help.com/041811.htm that I was in a similar boat in my mid 20's.  I had to go to bed at 6 pm to get up at 6 am, and would lay awake at night with stomach cramping. I had a job, fortunately that I didn't have to super perform, or I couldn't do it. I also am a Christian and I didn't understand why God was doing this to me. I looked around and saw people that were mean, people who smoked and drank and were healthy. I felt it was unfair, and I resented them. Now, at 50, I can see why I went through what I went through. I am able to help so many people as  health professional who has learned natural methods work through my own experience.  I also would contribute that God allows sometimes that negative effects of dishonest people who are destroying our food, water, bedding, air etc with chemicals which make us all sick (rain falling on the just and the unjust).  I found that when I removed these, I got much better.  Even just replacing my pillow with a folded blanket I can wash every week (cotton)- If I had to do anything in their  situation - I would first check for mold in the home. I would second get cotton sheets and a folded blanket for a towel on the bed-preferably organic, but cotton and washable in hot water weekly( move all dry clean stuff from other rooms).  Use 7th generation detergent or even just baking soda and water- regular detergents are loaded with toxic chemicals. and use natural products around the house. And start eating real foods and no processed foods. lastly I would add probiotic yogurt or kefir (along with ground flax seed for constipation). After you do all that, she should feel better- then there may be some dietary supplements that can help too. Also prayer and Bible study to see how God might be using this experience to help you to help others in the future."

29.  EXERCISE & FMS/CFIDS

Reader 1--

"I have a suggestion for the person that wrote in about exercise www.fms-help.com/041811.htm.  Yoga stretches have always been great exercise for me.  The stretches loosen me up when my body is tense and destress me mentally.  I don't do the meditation, etc. but I find the stretches tone and keep me in pretty good shape. You can stretch the spine which is great because not only does it keep the spine limber but because there are nerves that branch out from the spinal cord and go to all parts of our body, and to all our internal organs.  There are also accupressure points related to all the internal organs and functions located along the spine. I found a book at a Health convention that I love called Acu-Yoga by Michael Reed Gach.  It combines yoga and accupressure.  You can target certain organs with different stretches.  It also has a whole section in the back that has postures and accupressure points that benefit specific body conditions, like fatigue and insomnia. If you are looking for a way to strengthen the body without doing strenuous exercise, please try it.  You can take it as easy as you want and I would recommend that you do in the beginning.  Just do what you can.  It combats the eventual deterioration that comes with little activity."

Reader 2--

"I find the words "suck it up" www.fms-help.com/041811.htm rather harsh for those of us who just cannot tolerate exercise.  We are not being babies about it....anyone reading your newsletters knows the pain of movement and especially exercise.  It might work for some, but (unless I am unusual), it HURTS...the after affect is horrible for a lot of us.  And those of us with M.E. suffer even more.  with M.E., it is not only for that week or two, because with M.E. it is a progression of the illness.  M.E. can be fatal.  In my case, my heart was stopping all the time from the M.E.  I also get simple partial seizures where I actually lose my memory.  I don't even know who my own mother is; sometimes I falsely believe certain members of my family have died.  Once I did not know who I was.  EXERCISE does this.   So I cannot suck it up. Also...I TRIED elliptical....and it was the worst thing I could have tried!!!  I only did it for a minute or two....and I ended up with such horrible pain that nothing would relieve it.  I was in bed for several days for simply trying out  this wonderful machine ..I was interested in it because of how it makes anything you do THREE times the progress.  but not for US. rebounder....well, I do have one, and I can do this once in  a while for a very short time; it is the only one (I think because it is a 'trampoline" of sorts and you don't touch the floor) that has NOT harmed me.  HOWEVER, I did try a trampoline- I was in bed for over a week in horrible pain.  so there IS a difference between the two...although I can't figure it out.  When I am in the company of those who do so well, I simply keep my weakness to myself.  Is it just me or are there others out there who suffer with M.E. or even fibro in such a way that exercise is the worst thing that can be attempted?"

FROM DOM:  It's not just you.  It's me too and probably thousands of other fibromites.  When my fibro was at its worst www.fms-help.com/fibro.htm, even the mildest stretching (like reaching into a cabinet) caused weeks of excruciating pain, like my muscles were tearing apart.  With CFIDS www.fms-help.com/fatigue.htm, exercise causes me flare-ups of viral illness and/or brain crashing.  Just not worth it, in my opinion.  However, my hat's off to any fibromites who are able to exercise.  For me, walking is the best I can do.

32.  MILLIONAIRE'S DISEASE

FROM DOM:  There are so many interesting (and expensive) protocols that I have reported on in my newsletters since 1996 www.fms-help.com/newsletters.htm.   We fibromites are always looking for the perfect cure - or at least a little relief from our symptoms, which are usually several (or all) from the following list: pain, depression, insomnia, muscle stiffness, viral illness, brain fog, and debilitating fatigue (exhaustion).  However, a person would have to have really "deep pockets" to try many of these things, and most of us are broke - our health has ruined us financially!  I have a list of helpful things I currently use at www.fms-help.com/what.htm.  I discovered these little by little through trial and error since I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 1982 www.fms-help.com/fibro.htm and then CFIDS in 1987 www.fms-help.com/fatigue.htm.  Different things help different people, but I'm happy to share my list with my readers.  I am thankful for the functionality I have today (I'm able to work www.fms-help.com/students.htm), but I have to watch my health like a hawk!  Any little problem has to be taken care of immediately (such as when an infection starting) or it can become a major debilitating problem for me, particularly since 2004-2005 when I worked in toxic mold www.fms-help.com/mold.htm.  I also can't travel more than 30 miles without brain crashing (overstimulation).  This has been the case ever since the mold exposure.  However, I have quite a fulfilling and busy life in my 30 mile radius, as I also play piano and organ for my church.  Fortunately, my 89 year old mother is strong and healthy and able to drive 51 miles to come see me.  And my dear brother in Colorado flies out twice a year to visit my mother and me in Florida.  I appreciate my family!!!

The one GREAT GOOD that has come out of my illness has been my connection with you, my dear readers, through this newsletter!  I have learned so much from you, and I am glad to share the info with other sufferers.  How thankful I am for the internet that keeps us connected and able to share our thoughts and information.   Back in 1982 when I was first diagnosed with FMS, there was no internet, no one understood, people mocked, and the library had little or no information.  I was considered a hypochondriac and a malingerer - a boss once called me "lazy!" (the opposite of my Type A, workaholic nature).

But through all the adversity, God worked on my character (and continues to work).  He has made me a much more compassionate person and definitely more humble.  I think sometimes a person can be too strong for God to use, because the temptation is to take credit  for ones successes in life.  I have learned what the apostle Paul wrote:

"And he [God] said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.  Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong."  (II Corinthians 12:9. 10)

34.  TRAVELING WITH FIBRO & MCS

From a reader with MCS (Multiple Chemical Sensitivities)--

"I feel bad for you having only the "30 mile radius" when you travel. But, I totally understand.  When I am riding I usually have to close my eyes even though I am wearing wrap around sun glasses, due to the flashing of the trees, sunlight, etc.  Puts me in a tailspin.  But, I can go farther than 30  miles.  (I can't wear a sleep mask due to the smell of the rubber band that holds in on)  I feel that would help while riding in a car.  My problem with traveling isn't only the riding, but staying in motels, etc. too.  We went to my granddaughter's college graduation in another state last year, and my husband found me in the middle of the night (in our motel room) sitting up in bed crying because I couldn't sleep for coughing, due to the laundry detergent/fabric softener they had used in the sheets, towels, etc. It permeates the entire suite, and makes me sick. So, I tried once (last time we had to go to Florida, in fact) calling ahead and asking them to NOT have the housecleaners use chemical cleaners in our rooms.......that I would buy peroxide when I got there and clean myself. I also told them that I would bring my own sheets.  They were very willing to work with me, and I was praising God when I got there and saw how concerned they were about me and my comfort.  They told me before I came they would buy the peroxide and have the girls clean our suite with it. They also asked me what I used to wash my sheets, towels, etc.  I told them a "NO FRAGRANCE" (unscented doesn't work for me) detergent, with peroxide instead of any bleach, and NO FABRIC SOFTENER.    So, possibly most places would work with us if we call ahead. But, there are some smells that you can't get rid of.  Such as, even if they give us a "no smoking" room, ........if it had been a smoking room before, I can smell it through the sheets in the mattress, and in the drapes, furniture, etc.  It is all so frustrating!!!!"

FROM DOM:  My travel problems began in 2005 after working for a year in a "sick building" filled with toxic mold and bacteria www.fms-help.com/mold.htm from hurricane damage.   It is now 2011, and I still can't travel by car more than about 30 miles without my brain crashing.  This strange neurological problem has persisted.  Although I am now pain free from fibro www.fms-help.com/what.htm, this other hindrance to travel has occurred.  I do have a wonderful life in my 30 mile radius and give thanks for it, but I worry that if something happens to my loved ones who live out of town and out of state, I will be unable to get there.  Well... I am learning to rest my mind on this subject (and many others I used to worry about) and just believe that God has everything under control.  We are told to give thanks in everything and to rejoice always!  This is certainly healthier than worrying, and I used to be a terrible Worry Wart!  It goes along with my anxiety problem!  However, I prefer now to ponder and believe the many reassuring scriptures about God's love and care (New Testament and the Psalms especially)!  I have a small New Testament with Psalms and Proverbs in the back that I love to read in bed at night and in the morning.  It is very light and easy to hold.  I keep an entire Bible handy too, because all of God's Word is important, but sometimes it can feel quite heavy holding it up while lying in bed.  Also, I find things in the little New Testament more easily because the page size is smaller.  "O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day."  Psalm 119:97  Thank God for His wonderful Word!

"In perfect love He made us, in perfect love He gave us the gift of free will - and in perfect love He gave His Son, Jesus Christ to redeem us. No one was worthy to save us from our sin state other than the Perfect One. I believe all this was planned for since before the moment of creation. Our Loving Heavenly Father did all possible to ensure we, whom He loved, had the perfect opportunity to be reconciled with Him.
