2. WHAT REALLY HELPS CFS?
From a reader--
3. DR. BURZYNSKI & CANCER
http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2011/06/11/burzynski-the-movie.aspx
- Snippet: "For anyone who has ever beenn affected by cancer, either directly or
indirectly, the facts presented in this film will hit you like a rude slap in
the face. You will learn that not only did the US Federal government spend
14 years actively suppressing a cancer treatment that had a FAR greater success
rate than any other treatment available, they also spent well over $60 million
of US taxpayer dollars trying to put the inventor of the treatment in jail in
order to steal his patents and either suppress or cash in on his discovery."
4. SINUS RINSE
5. IS CFS/ME REALLY CIRS?
FROM DOM: Intriguing article by Dr. Ritchie
Shoemaker, author of "Surviving Mold."
6. BRAIN ENTRAINMENT
From a reader--
"I couldn't agree more with the reader who wrote that Brain
Entrainment could be a spiritual risk for Christians www.fms-help.com/061311.htm.
We have to be very careful with what we put in our "gates" .... our eyes, ears,
and unknown things that can affect our brains. There are many ways that
Satan tries to trick us into thinking something is "good" for us, when
unbeknownst to us, we're opening a door to his oppression. I applaud this
reader that spoke out on this and think she's hit the nail on the head."
7. THYROID & INFERTILITY
8. THE ENCOURAGING WORD
"Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making
allowance for each other's faults because of your love.” Ephesians 4:2 NLT
FROM DOM: If you would
like to be sent a Bible verse daily, email Alan anndavid45@gmail.com and request to be placed on the list. Alan was our plumber
and also one of my "piano dads." He has a wonderful ministry with
these verses. You can unsub at any
time.
9. SYMPTOMS OF CFS
10. PROSTATITIS & FIBROMYALGIA
From a reader--
"In response to topic 31 www.fms- help.com/061311.htm about
fibro and prostatitis in men - my husband was diagnosed with fibro (and m.e,
ibs, mcs) 3 years ago although he has had fibro since childhood that was
undiagnosed. half a year ago he developed prostititis which was treated
with low dose antibioitics for 3 months.... the topic made me wonder if men with
fibro are more prone to prostatitis or is it just a coincidence? Jacob had
prostatitis that went undiagnosed for a year....was slowly getting worse and
worse... asthe pain and symptoms were put down to his fibro."
11. HUSBANDS & WIVES WITH FMS/CFIDS/ME
From a reader--
"My husband and i both have m.e , i was just curious are
there other readers out there who are in the same boat where both husband and
wife are ill."
FROM DOM: Since I
began my site www.fms-help.com
in 1996, I have rarely heard of both a husband and wife having CFS/FMS/ME, but
please write dombush@bellsouth.net if you wish to comment.
12. LOW BLOOD PRESSURE & CFS
From a reader--
13. CAUSES OF FATIGUE
From a reader--
FROM DOM: This is about adrenal
fatigue, Addison's disease, and how women can become overly exhausted from their
many roles in life.
14. OSTEOARTHRITIS & HYALURONIC ACID
FROM DOM: I have been
wondering if the Synthovial 7 fluid I bought recently would help my right pinky
that has no cartilage due to osteoarthritis from 47 years of piano
playing. It is a painful condition, especially when playing the piano (for
which I now keep that finger joint tightly taped). I found the answer to
my question at http://www.911healt
hshop.com/synthovial7.html.
Snippet: "Synthovial 7 is hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a
special mucopolysaccharide that is the normal lubricant in human joints. When
present in a joint, even a joint with minimal or no cartilage, it can provide a
cushion effect. Hyaluronic acid helps to maintain smooth, elastic skin. HA
is used in many cosmetics such as make-up and moisturizing creams. Basically, HA
helps to hold water in the skin. HA helps control cell migration, which
protects cells and also activates the white cells. Since HA is an endogenous
substance, it can be used to reduce the need for antibiotics by stimulating the
immune system. HA helps reduce bacterial infections and has been found to
inhibit the growth of a variety of strains of bacteria. It has also been
concluded that HA even reduced the number of chronic bronchitis infections in
patients. Other benefits may include: Increased Mobility - Softer
Skin - Faster Wound Healing - Fibromyalgia Relief - Retinal Lubrication -
Clearer Vision - Dry Skin Relief - Improved Sleep - Stabilized Emotions -
Reduced Fine Lines - Improved Vitality - Hair Growth - Hair Color Restoration -
Tissue Reconstruction - Improved Bone Density - Increased Mental Alertness."
15. RECIPES

FROM DOM: This is a wonderful site!
16. DANGERS OF STATIN DRUGS
From a reader--
"Is it any wonder there has been a worldwide mega increase in the
number of cases of dementia, Alzheimer’s ALS, and other related illnesses? Look
at the evening news any day of the week and try to figure out, why it might be
that there are so many reported cases of abuse, killings, bashings, and
suicides. To my own recollection the number of these has been steadily growing
year after year. Could there be a connection? This one class of drugs
STATINS have wrecked terrible havoc on our bodies at the cellular level. It
involves so many biological pathways – many of which have not as yet been
identified – but all of which have an effect, somewhat like a house of cards –
and all will coming tumbling down. http://justmeint1health.wordpress.com/2011/06/14/it-is-not-only-
coq10-that-statins-deplete/ - Snippet: "It is NOT ONLY COQ10 that Statin’s
Deplete....There are at least 40 million people – some say as many as 60 million
- who take Lipitor or other statinn drugs (Zocor, Pravachol, Mevacor,
Altocor, Lescol, Crestor, etc.). Many millions more are now having statin drugs
recommended to them by their doctors. It is likely they are all going to become
victims of cell membrane degeneration and nervous system problems."
17. FOOD SENSITIVITIES & ALLERGIES
http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2011/06/14/why
-are-there-so-many-food-allergies-now.asspx - Snippet: "Processed foods in
general can contribute to allergies for a number of different reasons. Most
processed foods contain a variety offood colorings, flavors, preservatives, and
other additives can have a major impact. But there's another, even more
insidious hazard lurking in American food stores...In the mid-1990's, new food
proteins were engineered and introduced into our food supply, yet many people
are still, to this day, clueless about this. As O'Brien states, it was clearly
done to maximize profitability for the food industry, yet NO human trials were
ever conducted to see if these genetically engineered proteins were actually
safe for animal- and human consumption. One of the first foods to undergo this
change was milk, which incidentally is also the number one food allergen in the
US."
18. DRUGS THAT CAUSE TINNITUS (RINGING IN THE EARS)
FROM DOM: Wow! If you have tinnitus like I do,
take a look at this list!
19. LIPITOR & INFERTILITY
From a reader--
20. "RENDEZVOUS WITH ETERNITY"
http://www.myhereafter.com/
index.html - a short story based on Luke 12: 19 "...And I will say to
my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease,
eat, drink, and be merry." (Keep turning the pages.....maybe you know someone like
this character.)
21. UNSTEADINESS & FALLING
From a reader--
"Have you heard of anyone with CFS or FMS that has unsteadiness
resulting falling a lot? I was just wondering if that was the cause of my
unsteadiness or lack of balance. I seem to fall and lot, in fact I had a
terrible fall last Thursday where I had to get stitches in my head and bruising
a lot."
22. TORNADO IN JOPLIN
From a reader--
"I have no words..... please read this. Am sharing because I
know so little about what it is like to be in a tornado and this one was full of
heroes like Dr. Kikta! If you do not like to read first hand reports of
disasters, just delete or try to read outside your emotions. http://www.mercy.net/joplin/stories-of-mercy/45-seconds."

27. MICROGLIA CELLS, PAIN, RSD & ADIOL
From a reader--
"Here is some interesting information on microglia cell research
and pain. This will be helpful to ALL pain sufferers. The second
link shows they may have found what CALMS the glia cell excitation down
(something naturally occurring in the body). This is HUGE! God is
answering prayers.
XT101 (Xalud Therapeutics) is an IL-10 nonviral gene therapy
tested in models of peripheral and chemotherapy-induced pain as well as central
damage similar to that seen in MS. Following injection, this treatment is
microparticle-delivered and slowly degrades into natural products of metabolism,
releasing gene therapy for IL-10. A single intrathecal injection of XT101
inhibits the proinflammatory cytokines that are causing pain and paralysis, in
turn reversing this pain and paralysis.
Orally deliverable TLR4 antagonists, such as naloxone, also offer
a targeted approach to treating neuropathic pain and increasing the efficacy of
opiates, such as morphine. Studies have shown that morphine and (+) naloxone
administered together produce an increase in analgesia, and repeated dosing
prevents the dependence and withdrawal effects that commonly occur with
morphine. These effects also extend to the side effect of morphine; studies have
shown that the TLR4 antagonist action of (+)naloxone blocks the dose- limiting
effects of constipation and respiratory depression.
Why Does Acute Pain Become Chronic? Dr. Watkins and her group are
also examining “glial priming,” which is thought to set the stage for chronic
pain. Following an initial activation, which results in TLR4 upregulation, glial
cells may either return to a basal state or go into a “primed” state. When faced
with a second activation, the primed cells overrespond by putting out more
proinflammatory cytokines for a longer period of time, thereby overamplifying
the pain. The priming can occur from a variety of sources, such as aging,
stress, or opiates.
Glia priming has been studied in animal models, which has
confirmed that following a priming event the second hit lasts much longer and is
more severe than it would be if there was no initial priming event. In these
studies, acute pain becomes chronic pain based on history. However, if the
animals are given a glial activation inhibitor, such as (+)naloxone at the time
of the initial event, the glial priming can be prevented. Since the peak
incidence of CRPS is in middle age, questions arise about the possibility of a
priming event prior to the onset of illness.
The discovery that the steroid hormone ADIOL,
(5-androsten-3?-17?-diol), a precursor of androgens and estrogens, modulates
inflammation induced by microglia cells could eventually lead to new treatments
for patients with neurodegenerative conditions in which inflammation plays a
pathogenic role. In addition, levels of ADIOL in blood or other body fluids
might be useful for predicting risk or responses to drugs that mimic its
actions.
Though neurons get the headlines, they thrive only with the
support of other cell types, among them microglia and astrocyte cells.
Microglial cells help the central nervous system respond to infection and
injury. Under normal conditions, they exist in a resting state, quietly but
constantly surveying their surrounding environment for tell-tale indications of
microbial invasion or tissue damage. Once detected, microglia initiate an
inflammatory response, KICK-STARTING IMMUNE SYSTEM and tissue repair processes.
Astrocytes amplify the immune reaction launched by microglia.
The new findings suggest that in healthy brains, microglia
inflammation is modulated by the production of the steroid hormone ADIOL, which
instructs support cells to CALM down and RETURN to their quiescent state. ADIOL
works by binding to a transcription factor called estrogen receptor ?, which
gets its name because of its similarity to estrogen receptor ? and its ability
to bind to the female sex hormone estrogen. Unexpectedly, while ADIOL binding
causes estrogen receptor a to execute an anti-inflammatory set of instructions
to microglia and astrocytes, estrogen binding does not. Because of this,
estrogens can actually antagonize the anti-inflammatory actions of ADIOL.
These findings raise the possibility that WOMEN are more
susceptible to certain inflammatory diseases, such as MS, BECAUSE THEIR HIGHER
LEVELS OF ESTROGEN potentially antagonize the anti-inflammatory actions of ADIOL
in the brain. A similar argument might also help explain some of the adverse
effects of estrogen administration on the brain in post-menopausal women.
This ties everything together. It will help so many.
Did you see that Jessica Stevens is doing so well
now? She just had surgery and it did NOT cause an RSD
flare (even her doctors are amazed). Her body is healing.
With God ALL things are possible. Truly a MIRACULOUS recovery from Lyme
and RSD."
FROM DOM: See Jessica's RSD story in
past newsletters (use Google search box at the end of this page). RSD is a
horrible problem to have and I am so glad she is doing
better!
28. DOM'S UPDATE
I'm feeling very well these days - no pain, fatigue, or
fog. Sleeping well most nights (with
meds). Had a wonderful 10th recital
for the School of Music last Friday night www.fms-
help.com/students.htm. I
developed a sore throat 2 days prior to the recital (probably from stress and
also the fires and smoke here in Florida) and was very worried about singing
with some of my guitar students, but everything went well. Whew!
Praise the Lord! A list of things I use to manage my health is at
www.fms- help.com/what.htm.
A major problem I have now is osteoarthritis (from wear
and tear) in my right pinky. There is no cartilage left in the DIP joint -
a bad situation for a pianist! The ortho says it's "bone on bone." So, I'm
wearing a homemade brace on the pinky so I can continue playing the piano for
church. All other measures to fix this joint have failed: cortisone shot,
pain patches, arthritis meds, joint formulas, etc. My ortho will not do a
joint replacement on a musician, and a joint fusion sounds like a horrible thing
to go through (shaving the bones, putting a metal pin between them, wearing a
cast to the elbow for 6 weeks, followed by physical therapy, etc.) I just
can't afford to be off work and non-functional for that long.
A couple
weeks ago I decided to try Synthovial 7 (hyaluronic acid - fluid). It's
supposed to lubricate the joints even if there is no cartilage (cushion between
the bones). It's too soon to tell if this is helping, but I'll do anything
to avoid surgery. I do not handle surgery well due to FMS/CFIDS issues -
such as infection, anesthesia, antibiotics, etc. Interestingly, I reported
on hyaluronic acid in some past newsletters in relation to fibromyalgia.
(You can use the Google search box at the end of this page to find those
references.)
One more quick update: I have not yet begun the huge
dental project mentioned in past newsletters, because I still have pain at times
in my right ear from having the xrays taken a few months ago and swollen gland
on that side. But maybe these symptoms are caused by the decay under the
broken fillings that need to be replaced! However, I can't risk getting
sick from dental work and being off work for any length of time. Also, I'm
planning my mother's 90th birthday party and definitely can't be sick and miss
that! My mother is very healthy and independent for her age and runs
circles around me! I am glad for her well-being and positive outlook!!!
Well, so much for my "organ"
recital!
