The 12th Recital of the LABC School of Music in Green Cove Springs was held Friday, June 7, 2013. Twenty-nine students of all ages performed their musical selections before an appreciative audience. The special performer this year was Michelle Santos, a student at Trinity College in Jacksonville and also pianist for Lake Asbury Baptist Church. Ms. Santos played a Mark Hayes Medley entitled "Praise Thy Greatness." Ms. Santos also accompanied violinist Selah Welton who played "In Christ Alone." Mrs. Dominie Bush and Dr. Sandra Roberts are the music instructors. Mr. Rick Wyman serves as school administrator. Lessons are available Monday through Friday. The goal of the LABC School of Music is to educate and train aspiring musicians to serve the Lord with their music. The School was established in September of 2006 under the direction of Mr. Jason Weathersby.



Mrs. Dominie Bush, instructor, has been a church pianist and organist for 25 years. Mrs. Bush graduated with honors from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 1971 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology. She also studied Bible and Christian Education at Elim Bible Institute in New York. Mrs. Bush began teaching music in Jacksonville, Florida in 1977 and became a full-time music educator in 1993, teaching piano, guitar, and voice in Christian schools, churches, homeschool groups, and music studios. She serves as the pianist for her church.

 

Dr. Sandra Roberts, instructor, has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education and a Master of Music Education Degree from Mansfield State University, Mansfield, PA. She also earned a Doctor of Worship Ministry Degree from the Institute for Worship Studies. Dr. Roberts taught public school music in Pennsylvania and Florida, then taught music in private schools in Georgia, California and Florida, as well as teaching in her own studio. For seven years, she was a Professor of Music at Trinity Baptist College. Dr. Roberts is currently the Music Director/Organist at her church, in addition to teaching piano, keyboard, voice, and organ lessons. She has been a music instructor for 45 years. Dr. Roberts is a member of the National Music Teachers' Association, the National Guild of Piano Teachers, the America Guild of Organists and the National Federation of Music Clubs.

Mr. Rick Wyman is the administrator of the LABC School of Music. He served 30 years in the U.S. Navy, and then taught Naval Science at Clay High School for 10 years. He is a deacon and Sunday School teacher at Lake Asbury Baptist Church.
