11th Recital of the
LABC School of Music - June 8, 2012
In September of 2006, Lake
Asbury Baptist Church at 2674 Henley Road in Green Cove Springs, Florida
established the LABC School of Music under the direction of Mr. Jason
Weathersby. Since then, students of all ages have been learning to
play the piano or guitar and sing. Our first recital was held on October 14,
2006 - it was a wonderful occasion! We have had many more recitals since then.

The 11th Recital of the
LABC School of Music in Green Cove Springs was held Friday, June 8,
2012. Thirty-seven students of all ages performed their musical
selections before an appreciative audience. Dominie Bush is the piano, guitar
and voice instructor. Rick Wyman is the school administrator. Three special
musicians also performed during this recital: Selah Welton,
violinist, played "River Flows in You" by Yiruma; Peter Belk,
pianist from the University of South Florida, played "Clair de Lune," "When I
Survey the Wondrous Cross" and his own arrangement of "The USF Alma Mater"; and
pianist Adrian Holmes played "Maple Leaf Rag" and sang "Ol' Man
River." Peter Belk and Adrian Holmes are former students of Dr. Sandra Roberts,
who is returning to the LABC School of Music to teach piano and voice. The
School is accepting new student applications for the summer and fall. Please

Mrs. Dominie Bush,
instructor, has been a church pianist and organist for 25 years. Mrs. Bush
graduated with honors from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in
1971 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology. She also studied Bible
and Christian Education at Elim Bible Institute in New York. Mrs. Bush began
teaching music in Jacksonville, Florida in 1977 and became a full-time music
educator in 1993, teaching piano, guitar and voice in Christian schools, churches, homeschool groups and various music studios. She is presently a pianist for her church.
Dr. Sandra Roberts, instructor, has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education and a Master of Music Education Degree from Mansfield State University, Mansfield, PA. She also earned a Doctor of Worship Ministry Degree from the Institute for Worship Studies. Dr. Roberts taught public school music in Pennsylvania and Florida, then taught music in private schools in Georgia, California and Florida, as well as teaching in her own studio. For seven years, she was a Professor of Music at Trinity Baptist College. Dr. Roberts is currently the Music Director/Organist at her church, in addition to teaching piano, keyboard, voice and organ lessons. She has been a music instructor for 45 years. Dr. Roberts is a member of the National Music Teachers' Association, the National Guild of Piano Teachers, the America Guild of Organists and the National Federation of Music Clubs.
Mr. Rick Wyman is the
administrator of the LABC School of Music. He
served thirty years in the U.S. Navy, and then taught Naval Science at Clay High School for ten years. He is a deacon and Sunday School teacher
at Lake Asbury Baptist Church.
