10. RLS & ANTIDEPRESSANTS

From a newsletter reader in response to the article about Restless Leg Syndrome and iron in the January 2005 issue http://www.fms-help.com/January2005.htm--

"Hiya...a note on this (RLS and iron):  I discovered that mine was due to the horrible nightmares (I call them night terrors) which came about due to some of the meds I was prescribed (usually the antidepressants!)...I even suffered 2 fractures in one leg when it slammed into the arm of the recliner while I slept).  I quit these meds and the dreams are not nearly as bad AND the RLS has subsided.  When the dreams seem to be returning, the aid of sleeping pills (Ambien) quiets thems and the RLS again goes away.
So, it is not simply iron that a body needs nor the way in which it accepts it...please advise your readers as an overdosing of iron is more deadly than having too little (and folks tend to think that more is better!)"

11. HERNIATED DISC CAUSING PAIN?

From a website reader--

"I just want to pass this along in the hopes that it might help someone. Three years ago I developed pain in my lower body from just below my waist to right above my knees. The pain would jump around from area to area but it was severe and chronic. That started my visit from Doctor to Doctor. I had blood tests and the results were normal. Doctor 3 told me I had fibromyalgia. He was treating me with Cranial Sacral Therapy, Vicodan, Bextra, and Zoloft. The therapy and Vicodan helped but this Doctor was not in my health care plan and eventually I could no longer afford him. He did order a MRI and he told me that there were spots but nothing serous.

After him I went to another Doctor who gave me Effexor and muscle relaxers.. I discontinued seeing him as neither pill was helping me and I did not care for his attitude. I then went to therapy and that did not help my pain. Finally I took my MRI to a spine specialist and was diagnosed with a herniated disc. I am finally getting treatment for that and I feel much better. I hope you can share with your readers to request a MRI and have a spine specialist read it. Perhaps some of your readers have this condition and that is the cause of their pain and exhaustion. Until I got this diagnosis I felt like I was in a nightmare."

12. CYMBALTA FOR DEPRESSION? BE CAREFUL!

From a newsletter reader--

"Due to another serotonin incident (I almost died from one in the ER in September of 2003 because they did not know what was wrong with me).....I had 4 serious convulsions between 9 PM Tues. and AM Wed. of this week.  I called the doctor and he had me immediately stop taking Cymbalta." [NOTE FROM DOMINIE: Read Cymbalta side effects at http://www.prozactruth.com/cymbalta.htm]

14. MARITAL HARMONY

From a newsletter reader--

"Thank you for printing this http://www.fms-help.com/marriage.htm. I know that it is God who sent me to your web site.  My husband and I have been in counseling for the past 2 years.  I know that the stress from our problems is what is making my FMS much worse."  [NOTE FROM DOMINIE: A recent study showed that marital stress (arguing and conflict) suppresses a person's immune system.  Those of us with fibromyalgia don't need any unnecessary stress in our lives!  I have written a booklet called MARITAL HARMONY--AN EMERGENCY MARRIAGE MANUAL at http://www.fms-help.com/marriage.htm  It's for the Christian wife who may be struggling in her relationship with her husband.  I sometimes re-read this booklet, because it puts me back on track with the Lord and that brings me peace and joy!]

15. DR. SARNO REVISITED

From a newsletter reader--

"One month ago I read THE MIND BODY PRESCRIPTION by John E. Sarno MD and put his suggestions to work and have not had to take pain meds since!  What a gift!  Up to that point I was crazy with pain.  Thanks for your very special web site and newsletters etc.!!! I look forward to your suggestions and stories and know you work very hard for all of us."  [NOTE FROM DOMINIE:  This is controversial, but if it works--WONDERFUL!]

16. FREQUENT URINATION AND TEFLON COOKWARE

Someone sent me the story of a man who had frequent urination problems--having to go dozens of times during the day and night.  He had NO prostate, kidney, bladder or other problems that doctors could detect.  The problem went away when he left home on a trip, but would always return when he got home. He saw the following article on Dr. Mercola's site and stopped using the teflon frying pan his mother had given him, and his frequent urination problem went away!  See http://www.mercola.com/2004/aug/25/teflon_chemicals.htm

18. SPIRITUAL UPLIFT CORNER

Why does God allow suffering???  Here are two good books I read several years ago.  (Reasonably priced at $4.99 and $5.99 at http://www.christianbook.com)--

Where is God When It Hurts?
by Philip Yancey

Description: This inspirational best-seller for over twenty years has been revised and updated by the author to explore many important issues that have arisen since the original publication of the book. Sensitive and caring, this book discusses physical, emotional and spiritual pain, helps us understand why we suffer from pain, and provides insight into how to cope with our own pain and that of others.

When God Doesn't Make Sense
by Dr. James Dobson

Description: Why would God allow this to happen? It is life's most troubling question: Why does a loving God permit pain and suffering? Every person who lives long enough will eventually encounter trials and heartaches that are difficult to understand. During those times, the pieces simply will not fit--and God doesn't make sense. This is Dr. James Dobson's compelling book on the problem of pain. Anyone struggling with trials and heartaches--because of the recent terrorist attack, the prospect of war, the death of a loved one, disease, divorce, rejection--will find this an insightful, practical and compassionate resource--from the world's foremost family counselor.
19. DOMINIE'S PERSONAL UPDATE

My father passed away on January 28, 2005.  I made a webpage in his honor at http://www.fms-help.com/eulogy.htm   Dad was a gentle, brilliant, loving and humble gentleman who always wore a bow tie.  The world is a sadder place without his radiant Christ-filled presence!  I want to share my dad's remarkable life with others.  He was such an inspiration!  I hope you will read my eulogy for Dad.

Blessings,

Dominie Soo Bush
