SEROTONIN
Dr. Wayne Dyer's latest book, The Power of Intention,
explains some of the scientific data that is coming forth regarding the release
of Serotonin in the brain whenever you perform an act of kindness; receive an
act of kindness; or even OBSERVE an act of kindness--Good news works this way as
well. When you have positive experiences, it makes you feel
happy--even ecstatic! That's because Serotonin was released in your
brain. Serotonin is called the "Feel Good" hormone, because it alleviates
depression, raises your spirits, and gives you energy. Doctors are
prescribing artificial Serotonin drugs with all the dangerous side effects by
the score."

AMBIEN
From immunesupport.com's Tip of the Day--
We all know how important it is to get a good night's sleep -
especially if you have a chronic illness such as CFS and/or FM. If used
occasionally, sleeping pills can be helpful. However, if used nightly, they can
produce an abnormal form of sleep, robbing you of important and restorative REM
sleep. Without REM, you'll be deprived of dreams, a situation that eventually
can cause nightmares. Also, sleeping pills can carry the side effects of a
next day "hangover" or grogginess, especially in older people who metabolize
drugs more slowly. A newer sleeping pill called Ambien (zolpidem tartrate) may
overcome some of these problems, as its effects only last for four to six hours
and do not disrupt deep sleep. This medication should only be taken as
prescribed by your doctor, who can take into account other medicines you may be
taking. (Source: Your Personal Guide to Living Well with Fibromyalgia, an
official publication of the Arthritis Foundation.)
[NOTE FROM DOMINIE: I use a quarter
or half tablet of Ambien only in sleep emergencies, such as if it's 1 a.m.
and I am still awake, or when traveling and my sleep cycle is more messed up
than usual. I tried taking Ambien regularly for about a week, instead of
what I presently use, but I experienced memory loss and also rebound insomnia
when I tried to quit Ambien. However, I believe there is a place for this
drug for those who can't sleep under any circumstances. For more sleep
ideas, see http://www.fms-help.com/sleep.htm
Please remember that I am not a doctor and cannot give medical advice.
These are simply my own experiences and thoughts.]
22. BRAIN
FOG
This is a good page about brain fog, a problem that many
people with FMS/CFIDS face every day--
23. LACTIC ACID IN THE
MUSCLES
I got this information from a chemist whose husband is an
athletic trainer--
Potassium and calcium helps the muscles get rid of lactic
acid.

SPIRITUAL UPLIFT CORNER
My husband found this wonderful site and
spent two evenings reading me the inspirational stories and poems. We were
both soooo touched! Glorious, God-honoring music is played in the
background for each poem or story. What a
treat!!! Wanda's Country Home stories page
will encourage and inspire you! If you need an emotional
and spiritual lift today, click on http://wandascountryhome.com/stories.html and spend a few minutes enjoying!!
25. DOMINIE'S
PERSONAL UPDATE
Well, I have a new name now--its "Ms.
Test-All"!! This is what my husband has been calling me lately as
I continue my search for things that help people with fibromyalgia. A
recent experiment has been with a product made from
casein, a milk protein, that is supposed to reduce anxiety and
promote sleep. A newsletter reader told me about this and it works great
for her, but not for me, sadly! :(
Another adventure this month has been the use
of RNA (ribonucleic acid) for more mental alertness. Once
again, a kind reader tipped me off to this one. I don't know if it is
helping yet or not.....it is mostly to help with brain tiredness. I
haven't been under unusual stress this past week (which is rare), so maybe I
will notice more benefit when stresses rev up again.
Still another experiment has been
with Holosync audiotechnology for sleep--recommended by
two newsletter readers. The first night I slept great. The
second night not so great, the third night, not well at all--maybe I was getting
too much sleep for my system. As you know, I have had "Reverse Rip
Van Winkle Syndrome" for decades now (he slept for 20 years
and I DIDN'T sleep for 20 years!!) Seriously, I have my meds
and routine figured out for restorative sleep most nights, but I was hopeful
that Holosync technology would help me get off the meds. I am still
experimenting with it--some nights I've slept really well using the tapes.
My husband gave me a small portable tape player and headphones, because I
was using a huge boom box connected to my huge digital piano headphones which
made for awkward sleeping. Amazingly the portable tape player was only
$4.77 at K-Mart! (Made in China.....my husband and I wondered how they
could manufacture it so cheaply?!) Anyway, I liked the Tape 1, Side 1 with
the man's voice and ocean waves. Underneath it is Holosync audio
technology that is supposed to change your brain waves from alpha, beta, theta
to delta, so you can get to sleep. Interesting!
Like everything I've reported on in the past
8 years, some help certain people with FMS/CFIDS but don't help others.
We are all so unique! Keep searching until you find what
helps you. Some of you have asked what I
personally use, so I put this information at www.fms-help.com/what.htm
Write me if you have any questions about this list.
Well, that's all for now. Please
remember that I am NOT a doctor....I AM A FIBROMYALGIA
& CHRONIC FATIGUE SYNDROME SURVIVOR! I cannot give
medical advice. This newsletter is simply a compilation of information
that has come to my attention this past month and my own thoughts. Please
do your own research to verify any statements made in this
newsletter.
