DOMINIE'S PERSONAL UPDATE
1. LETTERS
FROM READERS
"A relative sent me your site address http://www.fms-help.com and it is great!!!! I was recently diagnosed with FMS, and it certainly is wonderful
to read about others that understand
what I am going thru."
"I
want to thank you for your newsletter and helps [http://www.fms-help.com/tips.htm]
I asked if I could share them with my support group. I want to
tell you that they are so pleased with them and look forward every week to what
I bring to the group."
"I loved your marriage tips [http://www.fms-help.com/marriage.htm]
I only wish I would have had them many years ago. I now try to think about
things more before I act or say something to my husband. I had really
taken him for granted a lot."
"Your website is terrific
[http://www.fms-help.com] I have
several women with FM and/or CFS that
I will refer to your site
shortly."
"You're doing a great service for those of us
who seek more info about our affliction."
2. RNA
FOR TIRED BRAIN
From a newsletter reader--
I have read your newsletter for about a year
now. I have long suspected that I have fibromyalgia, but have never been
"officially" diagnosed. For almost 30 years I have suffered from almost
constant pain and pressure in my head, as well as fatigue. Also, soft
tissue pain and stiffness. I have tried numerous things over the years
(and spent a fortune), but have never gotten more than very temporary
relief. I have finally found a couple of things that I have not read about
in your newsletter, but have been a godsend to me.
I got rid of 80% of the pain and
pressure in my head by using a procedure call neurocranial
restructuring (NCR). This procedure was developed about 20 years ago by
Dr. Dean Howell from Washington. This is not the same thing as cranial
sacral therapy. This procedure can help numerous problems. I urge
readers to check out his website www.drdeanhowell.com.
I also suspected my nonrefreshing sleep was
at least partly a result of sleep apnea. I discussed this with my
chiropractor, who uses contact reflex analysis (CRA), which is a form of muscle
testing.
The CRA showed that I was greatly
deficient in ribonucleic acid. He said I had a tired
brain. With the CRA, he is also able to tell what the needed
dosage is. Within a week, I felt like a new
person!!! This has made an incredible difference in the
quality of my sleep as well as the quality of my life in
general.
3. READER
FEELS BETTER WITH VINEGAR
From a newsletter reader--
I recently
discovered that people are dying from the over dose of Acetaminophen!
Since I have been taking this for some time and heavily I might add it scared me
so much. Since I can't take aspirn and it family. I stopped it and didn't know
what to do. I found an ad in a magazine on Vinegar and the great things it could
do. I was thinking of the cleaning aspect of it. Since chemicals bother me to no
end. I ordered the book. Was I surprised to find besides the cleaning use of it,
there were nutrients I didn't know it had. I now drink water with
vinegar and honey several times aday it helps the digestion and helps the body
in other ways. I find I feel so much better now, I can't tell you how much
better. You can get this book The Vinegar Book by Emily Thacher
from Tresco Publishers 718 - 12th St. N. W. , Box 24500 Dept Q1142 - Canton,
Ohio 44701 Customer Service 1 800- 772-7285 Operator Q1142. or 330

books cost $9.95 plus shipping.
[NOTE FROM DOMINIE: This
reminded me of a lady I met many years ago who was in her late 50's
and said she hadn't had a cold in 10 years since taking apple cider vinegar in
water every day.]
4. MAY 12th
IS FIBROMYALGIA AWARENESS DAY
5. DANGERS OF
HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP
From a newsletter reader--
I checked out your update, then found myself
strolling through your "100
tips" http://www.fms-help.com/tips.htm
again and wanted to put in my two cents on the fructose section.
You do
mention it, but I think it should be perhaps emphasized (by
underlining it?)
that high-fructose corn syrup is the worst. It is made
from corn, which
has no fructose(!), and is chemically altered to created
"high-fructose" corn
syrup.
It is the high-fructose part of it that is the problem. It
dramatically
raises triglycerides, lowers "good" cholesterol, and also
totally interferes
with copper, which is ESSENTIAL for proper bone and
collagen formation,
blood oxygenation (copper works with iron to transport
oxygen in the blood,
which means DEATH to viruses, fungi, etc..) and helps
blood vessel strength
and elasticity.
I would suspect that most people barely get
even half the amount of copper
they need every day, and also iron. I
know it is "taboo" to take iron these
days, but as you point out in your tip
on iron, it should only be avoided if
your iron levels are too high. If
they're low, or low-normal, iron
supplementation just might help bring more
oxygen to the blood, and help
destroy the viral, bacterial, fungal
infections.
Anyway, if you do a google search on copper and fructose,
you'll pull up a
lot of info you might want to add to your site.
[NOTE FROM DOMINIE: I
appreciate the input I receive from readers and learn much from what you
send me. I gladly share this information in my monthly
newsletters. I am planning a general update of my 100 tips as soon as
I get some time.]
6. PROTEINS
IN THE SKIN OF FMS PATIENTS
From immunesupport.com's Tip of the
Day--
The immune system may be compromised in FMS
sufferers. Natural Killer (NK) cells seek out and destroy foreign invaders in
our bodies. When FMS patients' NK cells were tested by I. Jon Russell, M.D.,
they were found to be in normal amounts, but their activity was low. Researchers
do not know why this is so, but serotonin may influence the activity of these NK
cells.
A high incidence of immune-reactive proteins
have been found in the skin of FMS patients. These are not normally seen in a
healthy person's skin. In other words, proteins are leaking through the blood
vessel walls and accumulating in surrounding tissues, which often occurs in
conditions that have an immunologic component. (Source: Taking Charge of
Fibromyalgia, by Julie Kelly, M.S., R.N., and Rosalie Devonshire, M.S.W.)
[NOTE FROM DOMINIE: I have been
using an immune balancing product for the past 3 years and noticed great
improvement in my health situation. If you want
information on this, please write me at dombush@bellsouth.net]
7. MAGNESIUM,
CHRONIC PAIN AND MUSCLE SPASMS
From immunesupport.com's Tip of the
Day--
Some researchers believe magnesium holds the
key to resolving many types of chronic pain. In the body, magnesium converts
vitamin D, which the body needs to take advantage of bone-strengthening calcium,
into a form that it can use efficiently. By contributing to increased bone
density, the mineral may help stall the onset of osteoporosis.
Magnesium may also help to ease tension headaches, muscle
cramps, muscle strains, and muscle tension. If you have a magnesium deficiency,
you may experience excessive muscle tension, which may trigger muscle spasms,
restlessness, tics, and twitches.
(Source: The Women's Guide to Ending Pain: An 8-Step
Program, by Howard S. Smith, M.D., and Debra Fulghum Bruce, M.S. Published by
John Wiley & Sons, Inc.)
[NOTE FROM DOMINIE: I have been
using magnesium for many years now for muscle stiffness and cramping.
See my 100 Tips for Coping with Fibromyalgia and Insomnia at http://www.fms-help.com/tips.htm ]
8. EPSOM SALT
BATHS
A massage therapist told me
that people with fibro should take epsom salt baths to draw out
toxins. She said to use 2 cups in a tub of warm/hot water. Be
sure it is dissolved well. I think that epsom salts also add magnesium, a
helpful mineral, to the body.
9. HISTAMINE AND
FMS/CFIDS
From Dr. Felix Ravikovich--
"By accident, I opened your site [http://www.fms-help.com]. My
suggestion, go to the website http://www.thehistamineconnection.com Chapter 9 gives you the notion of functional encephalopathies,
and CFS with or without fibromyalgia is among them. The therapy is very inexpensive, easy and logical. You will be
able to get it in U.S., as some doctors do provide it, although may not
advertise this."
10. MINERALS FOR
FIBROMYALGIA
Got this link from a reader--
Here's a short quote from this website: "I managed to find the combination of Na, K, Ca and Mg that are
absorbed by the body so that the normal concentration values remain in the
cells. Later, I verified that all the symptoms of Fibromyalgia diminished
or disappeared with the continued ingestion of the proper percentage of these
substances."
[NOTE
FROM DOMINIE: Those chemical letters stand for Sodium, Potassium, Calcium
and Magnesium. In Dr. Balch's book, PRESCRIPTION FOR NUTRITIONAL HEALING,
he states: "POTASSIUM is needed for hormone secretion. The secretion of
stress hormones causes a decrease in the potassium-to-sodium ratio both inside
and outside the cells. As a result, stress increases the body's potassium
requirements." MAGNESIUM made a great difference in my muscle
stiffness. Dr. Balch says, "magnesium is a catalyst in enzyme activity,
especially the activity of those enzymes involved in energy production. A
deficiency of magnesium interferes with the transmission of nerve and muscle
impulses, causing irritability and nervousness. It also aids in
maintaining the body's proper pH balance and normal body
temperature." Regarding CALCIUM, Dr. Balch states, "Calcium is
important in the transmission of nerve inpulses. It is also involved in
the activation of several enzymes which break down fats for utilization by the
body. Calcium aids neuromuscular activity." Regarding SODIUM, Dr.
Balch states: In some cases of disorders such as fibromyalgia, studies
have shown that moderate amounts of sodium may be needed. Excessive sodium
intake can result in potassium deficiency. A proper balance of potassium
and sodium is necessary for good health. Since most people consume too
much sodium, they typically need more potassium as well." I personally
take a calcium, magnesium and potassium supplement daily with my immune support
shake.]
