5.  "THE DYNAMIC FORCE OF FORGIVENESS"

From www.moodynews.com--

“He that cannot forgive others, breaks the bridge over which he himself must pass if he would ever reach Heaven; for everyone has need to be forgiven”(ANONYMOUS).

Forgive your enemies. Jesus taught the importance of this in a simple story: “Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus says unto him, I say not unto you, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants. And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents. But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made. The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay you all. Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt. But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellow servants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that you owe. And his fellow servant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay you all. And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt. So when his fellow servants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done. Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O you wicked servant, I forgave you all that debt, because you desired me to: Should not you also have had compassion on your fellow servant, even as I had pity on you? And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him. So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if you from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses” (Matthew 18:21-35).

Here Jesus gave us six vital lessons on forgiveness:

            1. Forgive because Jesus said to.

            2. Forgive even when a person has wronged you 490 times.

            3. Forgive because someday you will need to be forgiven. You are not perfect.

            4. Forgive because it pleases God.

            5. Forgive because it sets an example to others.

            6. Forgive because it gains you the assurance you have been forgiven by God.

“Moreover if your brother shall trespass against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone: if he shall hear you, you have gained your brother” (Matthew 18:15).

Joseph’s brothers despised him. They sold him into slavery and told their father he had died. Joseph ended up in Egypt where he became second-in-command to the king. Many years later there was a famine in his homeland and the brothers came to Egypt seeking bread. They were terrified when they discovered that the brother they had sold was in charge. They felt sure he would kill them for what they had done to him.

Instead, Joseph completely forgave them and tried to relieve them of their guilt by telling them it had all been God’s will: “And Joseph said unto his brethren, Come near to me, I pray you. And they came near. And he said, I am Joseph your brother, whom you sold into Egypt. Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that you sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life. For these two years has the famine been in the land: and yet there are five years, in the which there shall neither be earing nor harvest. And God sent me before you to preserve you a posterity in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance” (Genesis 45:4-7).

6.  CLEAN OUT YOUR NOSE AND THROAT TO AVOID VIRUSES

From a reader--

Here’s some good information – I never thought about the nose/throat thing. Sounds simple enough and would be worth it - not just for H1N1, but for any virus. Thought you might want to know this helpful information. This man spoke at WRMC ( Weatherford Regional Medical Center ) last week. Good advice to share with your family and friends.

This message is from Dr. Vinay Goyal a renowned doctor who visited last week to lecture on the topic H1N1 (SWINE FLU), its origin and precautions.

Tamiflu does not kill but prevents H1N1 from further proliferation till the virus limits itself in about 1-2 weeks (its natural cycle). H1N1, like other Influenza A viruses, only infects the upper respiratory tract and proliferates (only) there. The only portals of entry are the nostrils and mouth / throat. In a global epidemic of this nature, it's almost impossible not coming into contact with H1N1 in spite of all precautions. Contact with H1N1 is not so much of a problem as proliferation is.

While you are still healthy and not showing any symptoms of H1N1 infection, in order to prevent proliferation, aggravation of symptoms and development of secondary infections, some very simple steps - not fully highlighted in most official communications - can be practiced:

1. Frequent hand-washing (well highlighted in all official communications).

2. "Hands-off-the- face" approach. Resist all temptations to touch any part of face (unless you want to eat, bathe or slap).

3. Gargle twice a day with warm salt water (use Listerine if you don't trust salt). H1N1 takes 2-3 days after initial infection in the throat/ nasal cavity to proliferate and show characteristic symptoms. Simple gargling prevents proliferation. In a way, gargling with salt water has the same effect on a healthy individual that Tamiflu has on an infected one. Don't underestimate this simple, inexpensive and powerful preventative method.

4. Similar to 3 above, clean your nostrils at least once every day with warm salt water. Not everybody may be good at Jala Neti or Sutra Neti (very good Yoga asanas to clean nasal cavities), but blowing the nose hard once a day and swabbing both nostrils with cotton buds dipped in warm salt water is very effective in bringing down viral population.

5. Boost your natural immunity with foods that are rich in Vitamin C (Amla and other citrus fruits). If you have to supplement with Vitamin C tablets, make sure that it also has Zinc to boost absorption.

6. Drink as much of warm liquids as you can. Drinking warm liquids has the same effect as gargling, but in the reverse direction. They wash off proliferating viruses from the throat into the stomach where they cannot survive, proliferate or do any harm.

All these are simple ways to prevent, within means of most households, and certainly much less painful than to wait in long queues outside public hospitals.

8.  2010 CENSUS CAUTIONS

From a reader--

WARNING: 2010 Census Cautions

by Susan Johnson

With the U.S. Census process beginning, the Better Business Bureau (BBB) advises people to be cooperative, but cautious, so as not to become a victim of fraud or identity theft. The first phase of the 2010 U.S. Census is under way as workers have begun verifying the addresses of households across the country. Eventually, more than 140,000 U.S. Census workers will count every person in the United States and will gather information about every person living at each address including name, age, gender, race, and other relevant data.

The big question is - how do you tell the difference between a U.S. Census worker and a con artist? BBB offers the following advice:

** If a U.S. Census worker knocks on your door, they will have a badge, a handheld device, a Census Bureaucanvas bag, and a confidentiality notice. Ask to see their identification and their badge before answering their questions. However, you should never invite anyone you don’t know into your home.
** Census workers are currently only knocking on doors to verify address information. Do not give your Social Security number, credit card or banking information to anyone, even if they claim they need it for the U.S.. Census. While the Census Bureau might ask for basic financial information, such as a salary range, the Census Bureau will not ask for Social Security, bank account, or credit card numbers nor will employees solicit donations.

Eventually, Census workers may contact you by telephone, mail, or in person at home. However, the Census Bureau will not contact you by Email, so be on the lookout for Email scams impersonating the Census.

Never click on a link or open any attachments in an Email that are supposedly from the U.S. Census Bureau.

9. "STREAMS IN THE DESERT, VOL. 1"

From a reader--

"I love the little book, "Streams in the Desert"!!   It is little but
overabundantly cramped with Godly instructions!!  At library book
sales I always try to find good and clean copies of this little book
to give to others!"

FROM DOM:  An elderly lady (retired missionary to Japan) gave me a copy of "Streams in the Desert, Vol. 1" by Mrs. Charles Cowman many years ago when I was going through a terrible time in my life.  I read it every day for 4 years - my copy is all marked up - this book is such a rich treasure for anyone who is suffering.  There may be used copies on ebay or at amazon.com, (since most of us are broke).  You will not be disappointed!

10.  MEN WITH FMS

From a reader--

"I think we must not forget the men who are struck with FMS. I once went to a seminar and only one man was there. I spoke to him and his wife and realized that in many ways it is harder for a man. He told me about his emotional congestion about what he felt vs. the expected what a man should handle pain. Doctors discounted him (much like us) and he felt ashamed. We ended up hugging with tears and I learned a valuable lesson. It really might be harder for a guy to live with FMS than us, I guess it depends on what the man was taught and his age, expected behavior, things like that. Hopefully younger guys will be able to allow themselves the truth and live a little easier."
FROM DOM:  So true!  Visit my page about MEN WITH FMS at www.fms-help.com/men.htm.

11.  DOM'S UPDATE

I'm still feeling no brain fog or debilitating fatigue since I got on the oxygen drops 8 weeks ago, but this past week getting ready for our music recital Friday night at LABC has been grueling!  I think I'm having a case of nerves - my stomach is on edge.  It's not easy getting 28 beginner students (age 6 through adult) geared up for a public performance.  Still, as one of my young students said today: "It might turn out better than expected!"  HAHA!   I sure hope so!  He is so sweet - what a great word of encouragement to this tired teacher.  (Of course, tiredness has nothing to do with my being 57 and not 27....or does it?! Ha!)
