1. READERS WRITE
"Thank you for your wonderful newsletter. It has gotten me through some really tough times."
"I have always appreciated your newsletters. You were the first person that helped me after my diagnosis of FMS."
"Thank you so much for your newsletters. I'm really learning a lot and also I don't feel so alone anymore."
2. MOUSE DROPPINGS & FIBRO
From a reader--
"I'm just recently remembered that before I developed Fibro I was exposed repeatedly to lots of mouse droppings, and dead and live mice for about a year or more. We were living and working at a camp. I ran the store and there was a really bad mouse infestation for a while. They were in all over in the storage facility and it was not uncommon for me to be around a lot of droppings. Long story...short.. Have you ever heard of anyone developing long term problems like Fibro from this type of exposure? I'm seeking SSDI and have a hearing coming up. If I could link this as a contributing factor, I wonder if it would help?"
3. SUGAR, STEVIA, TRUVIA
Reader 1--
Re: www.fms-help.com/060710.htm - "All sugar makes yeast grow. it isn't just cooked. and I think most fibros have a yeast problem. I save my sugar for fermented beverages and yogurts because the best medium for good bacteria is sugar as well. Lakanto is recommended by Donna Gates of Body Ecology. I think same as Lohan. Stevia must be used in small doses or it tastes bitter. I have heard not such good things about Agave. That it is highly processed-and not clean. can't remember where I read that. I would do natural brown sugar in small doses. or stevia or lakanto. None of us need a lot of sugar."
Reader 2--
"I think I'll get sukonot - evaporated sugar cane juice (granulated)."
Reader 3--
"Sweeteners, the agave nectar is something that you should watch if you have any kind of yeast issues. And don't forget that some sugars process as fat in the liver. Overall, stevia is better. You can get different grades. I have found a Stevia product that is something I like to use. It has the texture of granulated sugar. It is called Truvia and found at Walmart. My husband loves to dip in a strawberry. It is the closest texture to sugar that I have found. It is made granular by a process that takes the stevia liquid form and is crystalized. I think it is great. Also Stevia with Inulin found at Vitamin World I like a whole lot. Some Stevia is bitter, it depends on the grade and how much you use is key. Too much and it is bitter no doubt about it."
Reader 4--
"I choose stevia with inulin. Also Truvia. Argave, well, I have yeast issues and do not do any kind of sugar like honey or syrups. I know they are safe, but prefer the stevia. Actually, you can find raw stevia in health store near herbs. It is green. Is loaded with fiber and bakes well in cooks breads etc. The rawer the better. I like the Stevia with inulin fiber. It is fine an disolves nicely in cold drinks. If it is bitter, you may be using too much. Cut it back and see how it tastes then."
4. NERVE PAIN
From a reader--
Re: www.fms-help.com/060710.htm - "Just wanted to remark regarding nerve pain which I had when first dx with fibro several years ago is the worst pain ever. It does feel like you are on fire. I would continue taking the neuragen as needed because I had several say it really works (I didn't know about it when I first had the nerve pain) but I would definitely try to add Alpha Lipoic Acid (I did better with the regular, not the "R") Try 100 mg but they say up to 300 2x/day with the regular kind- (less of R because it is more potent). Over a period of a few months it decreased my nerve pain gradually and significantly and then it went away. Take it with a high Vitamin C (along with a high quality multivitamin and B complex). The combo of regularly taking Alpha Lipoic Acid and Vitamin C is amazing for nerve pain."
5. ROOT CANAL
Reader 1--
Re: www.fms-help.com/060710.htm - "Do NOT under any circumstances get an amalgam replacement with has mercury in it which people are replacing with synthetics. Do not get a root canal. Read http://www.healingteethnaturally.com/root-canals-health-threat-interview-george-meinig- dds.html. Read the entire site. Improve your diet and supplementation to include tooth healing fat soluble vitamins and minerals."
Reader 2--
"On the root canals: I take a drug for osteoporosis. My dentist said it is very bad to have to pull a tooth for someone who has been on these drugs because the jaw bone injury may not heal properly. This is a real danger, but one can stop the drug for awhile and then have the tooth pulled if necessary. The dentist’s statement about the tooth not coming out in one piece is strange. I had a tooth crumble because of my osteoporosis. My dentist just picked out the pieces. He couldn’t save the tooth because it had split below the gum line. Maybe it would be more complicated if it was an upper tooth with roots very close to the sinuses. My dad had one like that and the dentist sent him to an oral surgeon to have it removed because of the danger. But all worked out well with that. Once the nerve dies within the tooth, there is no pain from the tooth. If the nerves are causing pain, then they are alive and infected. Clearing the infection is the problem. Sometimes the antibiotics just don’t do the job. The surgeon is supposed to clear out the entire nerve area within the tooth when the root canal is done, but there are many factors involved with whether this solves the problem. Skill levels among specialists vary and reactions to the antibiotics and sterilizing liquids used during the procedure are different for each person. Keeping the tooth avoids more expensive bridges and problems with bite and retention of other teeth, so most dentists will want to do whatever can be done to try to keep the tooth. Getting a second opinion and even a third opinion from dentists recommended by other professionals makes sense."
6. HD TV
From a reader--
"I wanted to say about the HDTV’s and the computers that one of the recommendations for those with autism is to use a laptop if they have to use a computer. Something about the fluorescent light cycles used in larger screens but not in laptops. It’s worth a try for those who need to use a computer to try someone’s laptop if possible and see if that helps. People can still get TV’s that are not HD—look in newspaper ads and on Craig’s List. People are practically giving them away since they are getting HD’s and then have to PAY to have their old TV’s recycled. Our town charges $25 per TV for disposal. Most of the thrift stores and such are not taking donations of the older style TV’s, so I’ll bet the writer who thinks she has to buy an HD can get a good alternative for practically nothing with a little searching."
7. JANETTE OKE - LOVE'S SAGA
FROM DOM: My husband recorded the 6 Janette Oke movies that were on the Hallmark Channel in April. They are called The Love Saga series: Love Comes Softly, Love's Enduring Promise, Love Takes Wings, Love's Long Journey, Love's Unending Legacy, Love's Unfolding Dream. They were wonderfully inspirational and extremely emotional. I cried soooo much...but I also grew so much in my understanding of God's ways - and to have faith in the dark valleys of life. The Love Saga stories are about a family who went West to homestead land. There were so many deaths, tragedies, marriages, babies, widowhood, remarriages (of convenience which eventually turned to true love) - but through faith, perseverance and helping others, they got through the terrible times. The stories have romance, drama, and action. They are based on the famous books by Janette Oke (which I read a long time ago), but I enjoyed the movie versions even more! They strengthened my faith in God in an area where I was weak: "Why do bad things happen to good people?" These stories show how believers suffered loss and tragedy and how they eventually came to grips with their "new normal" and how eventually their faith returned. Donnie has a saying at our house when bad things happen: "No one ever promised you a rose garden." True. The pain of this world just makes us long for our real HOME (heaven)! BTW, these stories also made me appreciate today's methods of pain relief for surgery, injuries, etc.
8. READERS' PRAYER CORNER
Charmaine - "I have invasive breast cancer and am having a mastectomy on the left side a lumpectomy on the right on June 16. I am terrified due to my chronic pain of FMS, osteoarthritis and 2 bulging disks in my neck (with arthritis between them). Needless to say I take narcotics daily to control the pain so I can function. I hope they can get my pain under control after surgery. I am so afraid, I know I am in God's hands but I have never had major surgery before, the thought of possibly needing chemo also, just having the flu last year with the FMS, I thought I was dying then, the pain was so awful. I just would appreciate any prayers."
Dora - Needs job in New Orleans. (See #15 below)
Shirley - "A very good friend of mine is about to lose her home to foreclosure. Her entire family lives there which is eight people. They received a letter from the attorney yesterday saying it is ready for auction. These people have no place. Her husband does construction work and doesn't always have full time work and doesn't work for a particular company. If anyone knows of a job possibility for him let me know. He built the house they live in." (Needs job - see #15 below)
Dom - Please pray for a young Christian friend who has become involved in a lesbian relationship. May God deliver her from this seduction.
Tim - "Asking prayers for a stranger: While on a recent trip to Louisiana, I was asked to pray for Mrs. Gyneth Domingue by her husband, Val. I told Val that I had many praying friends who I’d ask to join me in prayer. His wife has stage three breast cancer. Please pray for Gyneth and cc Mr. Val to encourage them they're not alone. Val’s email address is val@lasbhomes.com."
9. CAUTION ABOUT MACA ROOT POWDER

10. I COULDN'T PRAY
FROM DOM: During a terribly sad and tragic time in my life, I couldn't pray, but somehow I had no trouble telling my problems to my friends on the phone. One day, I disconnected the phone, picked up the receiver and slowly began talking to God again. It helped me to use a means of communication that I was familiar with, and quite frankly, where my friends could offer sympathy or insight, only God was able to solve the serious problems I had at that time. Perhaps writing ones thoughts and prayers in an email, even if they just end up in an email basket on our computers might be a great idea! God is listening. Our pastor said that the first prayer a person should pray should be one of repentance and to accept Christ as Savior and Lord. After that, prayers can be for whatever the Holy Spirit brings to our minds and hearts - for needs of our friends and family, and ourselves - and always for the salvation of others.
11. MEN & FIBRO
From a reader--
http://www.webmd.com/fibromyalgia/features/how-fibromyalgia-affects- men
FROM DOM: I have a special page for men with fibromyalgia at www.fms-help.com/men.htm.
12. C-PRIME BRACELET
FROM DOM: One of my student's dads demonstrated this bracelet to me: http://mycprime.com/romel99/flash.html - CLICK ON DEMO. It doesn't interfere with pacemakers, etc. It somehow makes you stronger. Might be of interest to athletes. Not sure how it works - something about the body's electrical field.
13. GUAIFENESIN PROTOCOL
Please reply to Lorraine Lorraine lorraine_rockel@hotmail.com--
"Has anyone tried the Dr. St. Amand Guaifenesin protocol? If so, what kinds of results have you noticed with it?" - Lorraine lorraine_rockel@hotmail.com
FROM DOM: I have discussed this topic in past newsletters - try a search at www.fms-help.com/newsletters.htm for: guai, guaifenesin, or Amand.

15. JOBS NEEDED
NEW ORLEANS, LA - Reply to Dora ranitas@bellsouth.net-- "I have been unemployed for quite a few months now and the stress and anxiety that I am living with is not helping my Fibromyalgia. I was hoping that you could ask your readers in hopes that someone here in New Orleans knows of any jobs that I might be qualified for. I have 15 years of banking/accounting experience. In case it would help I can send you a copy of my Resume. Please keep me in your prayers….I have been trying to stay positive and keeping the faith, but some days I feel that I am losing my faith."
ANNAPOLIS, MD - contact Shirley prywarr@yahoo.com - "A very good friend of mine is about to lose her home to foreclosure. Her entire family lives there which is eight people. 16. DOM'S UPDATE
Well, I'm plugging along in life and feeling good nearly every day. A list of things I use is at www.fms-help.com/what.htm. I'm able to keep up my piano & guitar teaching schedule www.fms-help.com/students.htm and also play for all services at church. Sometimes I still have brain fog - especially when stressed, but no more debilitating exhaustion, no pain, a little depression at times. I think I am finally managed correctly for my FMS/CFIDS problems - a great blessing after decades of severe suffering www.fms-help.com/fatigue.htm and www.fms-help.com/fibro.htm.
Occasionally I have nights when my sleep is not right, despite meds, but it's nothing like the torturous insomnia I endured for so many years www.fms-help.com/insomnia.htm. So.... looking back, I am doing well (for me). However, I still can't travel much in a car (about 30 miles) without brain crashing - this has been a problem for me ever since I worked in a moldy hurricane-damaged building in 2004-2005 www.fms-help.com/mold.htm - the mold has somehow damaged my brain. I have a delicate nervous system and can't take a lot of stress, but sometimes life doesn't cooperate with that - haha! Seriously, I am immensely thankful for the improvements in my health and functioning.
I just re-read Joyce Meyers' wonderful little book, "Help Me! I'm Stressed!" Picked it up at a yard sale. It has so much good advice about relieving stress, and also scriptures that help you put your trust in God and stay calm during trials. It's a book I need to re-read often, as I am prone to working in the "energy of the flesh" instead of the "power of the spirit." Working in our own strength is exhausting. Flowing in the anointing of God is refreshing.
Well, bye for now, my dear fellow fibromites!
